Twelve Days of Christmas Meditation Day Three: Spiritual Winter Cleanse

Much like Spring Cleaning, taking time during the season change to declutter and cleanse our home of any unwanted junk is a great way to think more clearly and start fresh! This meditation is on the same wave length as decluttering your home, but it focuses instead, on decluttering your spirit. When we have a lot of unwanted emotions rolling around in our head, it can weigh us down and give us 'fog brain.' This can keep us from achieving our goals, make it hard to focus on things that matter, and ultimately keep us from living our best life. When we have a heavy spirit, it can present itself as a numbing agent and leave us in a stupor as we mindlessly wander. By shedding things we don't need, we can make room for the things we do need. We can banish the negative and welcome the positive.

What you need: A blue candle(blue is associated with healing).

Paper and pen A fireproof dish

Step One: Light the blue candle and sit quietly for a moment, meditating on the flame and visualizing your healing goals.

Step Two: Draw a line to make two columns on the paper. In the first column, list feelings or emotions that you'd like to eliminate. Write each feeling/emotion down individually, it's important to make note of each one as you write and remind yourself of why it doesn't serve you well. Some examples of these feelings and emotions might be, 'fear, anxiety, anger, sadness, judgement, poor self-image, etc... If you want to dive a little deeper into this mediation, you can even provide examples of when you were immersed in these feelings/emotions and what happened as a result. Did you have a moment of fear that caused you to do something you would't typically do? Did you act out in anger and end up hurting someone, or yourself, in the process? How did each feeling and emotion not serve you well?

Step Three: In the second column, write the opposite of each negative feeling. For example, you might put "confidence" across from "poor self-image," "joy" across from "sadness," or "gratitude across from "anger..." Writing things down will help solidify them in your mind and the process of taking them from your thoughts to something you can see on paper, will help get them out of your mind for good and provide the actionable steps necessary for the decluttering process.

Step Four: Tear the paper down the center, so you have two separate lists. Take your negative list and tear it into pieces. Drop the pieces into the dish and set them on fire. As the pieces burn, say: "I have no room for negativity. I burn away what doesn't serve me.

Step Five: Once the fire has burned out, dispose of the ashes in running water.

Step Six: Take the piece of paper holding your positive thoughts, fold it up and place in your pocket. Carry it with you throughout the day, so whenever you are feeling uncertain, you can read it to yourself as a reminder of what you want to attract in your life.

Step Seven: Once you've gone through this Spirit Cleansing Ritual, sit back with a light-hearted cocktail and enjoy! Since blue is a cleansing color I decided to go with a cocktail that uses blueberries and a healthy dose of imagination~

Spirit-cleansing cocktail:

4 cups blueberries, or mixed berries if you prefer a variety.

1 Tablespoon granulated sugar

2 ounces Vodka

1 ounces Triple Sec

5 teaspoons pomegranate juice

1/2 ounce lemon juice

2 cups whipping cream

4 small meringue cookies

Toss together berries, sugar, vodka, triple sec and juices in a bowl, set aside.

Whip cream in another bowl.

Add half of the berry mixture to the whipped cream, folding over once.

Dollop into four containers(ramekins or glass mugs) and top off with the remaining berries and garnish with meringue cookie!
