In the Spirit of Christmas I wanted to incorporate a Meditation that really focuses on a big activity that happens during the holiday: Baking! Tis the season to dig into that comfort food that you've been craving all year: egg nog, cookies, chocolate, cheesy Mac and cheese, charcuterie board filled with meats, cheeses and decadent olives! Although these foods may be on the naughty list, it ok to indulge a little in the flavors that bring you back to memories past. Food can take you back to a special occasion, a special moment, and impact or enhance your overall mood. When we take part in this holiday joy, let focus on making it extra magical by eating with intention. We can do this by being mindful, or even creative, in how we eat. If you want to feel grounded and safe, add root vegetable to your favorite homemade casserole--like carrots, potatoes, or beans--or freshly baked breads and cakes. To attract love, incorporate fresh fruits, fish, ginger, rosemary or vanilla into meals. To feel a sense of overall happiness, you can prep your dishes with apples, chocolate, honey and saffron. If you can grow your own food I encourage you to do so, by creating a fresh herb garden in your house. This will give you a sense of autonomy and empowerment, as well as make it easy to incorporate different herbs and spices in everything you make. I have been using essential oils in my food. Last night I added Rosemary and Oregano to my eggs, threw in some spinach, onions and parmesan cheese. I also add Peppermint essential oil to my coffee every morning. Incorporating different spices and herbs will awaken your palate and make you fall in love with food in a healthy way.
STEP ONE: Prepare your meal as you normally would, but as you work, visualize your magical intention flowing into the food. To attract things to you, such as love, prosperity, or healing, stir your food into a clockwise direction. If you want to eliminate something like debt, illness or anger, stir counterclockwise.
STEP TWO: If your recipe calls for herbs or spices, think about the magical properties associated with them. For instance, consider using basil for magic focused on calming, cinnamon for developing intuitive gifts, or sage for wisdom.
STEP THREE: Once your meal is ready, offer a blessing or prayer before you eat, to set your intention. It can be as simple as, "I am thankful to have this food before me, and I honor the earth by eating with gratitude." If you have a favorite family blessing use that instead.
STEP FOUR: Acknowledge your specific magical purpose as you eat, slowly and mindfully, while sipping on a magical cocktail!
