Happy Monday Everyone 🥰
I want to begin the week by sharing some things that happened throughout the week... I will expand on this topic later on as I gain more insight, but I just wanted to share some cool insights from the event I attended last Friday night. There were a few key points that were mentioned about this thing called Trauma: First, Trauma is a gift that gets us through difficult moments.
When we face moments like this our instinct goes into Fight, Flight or Freeze mode. An example of this would be if something happens to us when we are children and we are too helpless and vulnerable to fight or flee, we default into freezing instead. When something traumatic happens to us and we freeze, the trauma stays in our body, trapped in our cells. This trauma can stay in our bodies for years... until we finally acknowledge it and set it free! This often happens when we get out of our Beta brain and into our Alpha/Theta brain. We can do this through deep meditation, hypnosis and getting in touch with our emotions. Many of us adults live most of our lives in our Beta brains, the part of us that deals with the little details of every day survival: things like paying bills, focusing on work, doing menial tasks and every day things that are needed to maintain an organized life and keep moving. This can also be described as living our lives from the neck up; what I mean by this, is that we often don't pay attention to what's happening in our bodies. We don't pay attention to the brain body connection. Sometimes we have trauma in our bodies that we are not even aware of... something that we blocked out at the time, because when it happened it was too traumatic for us to be fully cognizant. Some ways to unlock these doors in our mind is through meditation, hypnosis, contemplative prayer and massage, just to name a few. Yes, massage can help give us this emotional release and finally allow us to move the Trauma out of our bodies. This happens by allowing us to feel our bodies again; to connect our brain and body together at a time when we are ready to accept healing. When we have Trauma in our bodies and are not ready to let go, we muscle guard. In this case, the Massage Therapist can work on that part of the body for the entire hour and won't make much of a change in the muscle, and the tension/pain held inside, because the client is not ready to let the Trauma go. Healing from Trauma requires a willingness to accept whats happened and a desire to participate in the healing process; before this is possible, we first have to know the truth of whats happened to us. Massage is such a great way to bring awareness to how and why we are hurting; it effects our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual selves. It reconnects our mind and body, bringing our awareness inside us and allowing us to enter that deep meditative state of our Alpha/Theta minds.
"To heal you must go where the Trauma is located; it isn't floating unmoored in the cosmos. It is anchored in your body." -Shuna Morelli
Have you ever been around someone who is "zoned" out, or the light has gone out of their eyes? It's true in a way what is said about the 'eye being the window into the soul;' and when the light has left our eyes, this is often a sign of disassociation or what some refer to as "soul-loss."
The good news is that we are able to retrieve our souls and find healing... This is such an important topic and is growing in awareness as many people are seeking healing in their bodies and minds through self care practices. The event Friday night was so profound and I was happy to have my sister-in-law join me for an evening of insight, meditation and healing ❤️🩹

I think you’re right. We don’t think much about our physical being until we have pain, but the pain might be a trigger for something else that’s going on. Good article! 🥰
