The Benefits of Reflexology and How it Works

Updated: Jun 5, 2022

What came first... emotional or physical pain? Some believe that the brain reacts to physical pain, while in other cases it may create pain in response to emotional or mental distress. The greater the pain, the harder it is to pinpoint its origin. Have you ever had a headache that knocked you down? That made you delirious and in such a state that you saw and felt only pain... I've definitely had a migraine hit me like a wave simply in response to a stressful situation, or thrown up from being nervous, or had uncontrollable shakes. Anxiety is a perfect example of how our body responds to brain stimuli.

What if you experienced this every day... Chronic pain has become the norm, and something that doctors have told us to simply get used to; but this shouldn't be the case. Pain shouldn't control our lives. It may come as no surprise to you that the practice of Reflexology evolved from the Ancient Chinese, founded on the belief that "vital energy" flows through each person, and when a person is stressed, this "vital energy" is blocked. You may have heard the term "qi" blocker (pronounced "chee"), well this is just another way of saying that there is a block of vital energy in our bodies. When our "qi" is blocked it creates an imbalance in the body that leads to illness and disease. "Reflexology aims to keep qi flowing through the body, keeping it balanced and disease free. In Chinese medicine, different body parts correspond with different pressure points on the body. Reflexologists use maps of these points in the feet, hands, and ears to determine where they should apply pressure." (www.healthline.com)
