I had some great experiences this week with my clients that I thought profound enough to share. One of the things I wanted to share was how important relaxation massage is for healing. I say this because I noticed right away that there was a battle going on inside my client. Her entire body was riddled with anxiety because of the indecision, uncertainty and myriad of changes going on in her life. I could recognize the battle in her mind, because I’ve gone through similar ones. Battles where I’ve made decisions or needed to make a decision and I’m not sure if its the right one or if I’ll even be ok after the decision is made. This same tempest of emotions was going on inside my client. She was also full of tension because she was in physical pain as well as emotional. She had carpel tunnel in both hands and extreme nerve pain that went all the way down her arms. After talking with her for a long time I realized that we had a lot in common. We both find value and purpose in living an active life and with that comes the fear that one day our bodies will break down and betray us. Being active has become a drug that we can’t live without, and when we don’t have it on a daily basis our souls feel lost.
The truth is, while I was working with my client, I was in pain to… and our pain was very similar. In a way, while I was bringing healing into her life, she was also bringing healing into mine ❤️🩹
This is a perfect example of how important and necessary relaxation massage can be; because the pain we’re feeling is not always just physical pain, but emotional pain. We are multi-dimensional Beings that don’t just live in our physical bodies, but in our mind, heart, and soul. Massage touches us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually… and the truth is, that even though deep tissue massage is necessary to move muscles, sometimes what we need is to be touched with a caring and compassionate hand. Have you ever had an experience during a massage where you felt tremendous emotional healing? What are your thoughts about how touch can impact our emotional Being? Have you experienced good and bad touch? What are your thoughts about the difference between good and bad touch? Share your thoughts and stories in the comments below!
