Reflexology Continued

Updated: Mar 27, 2022

Why is Reflexology important? If you think about it, our feet take on the brunt of our body's weight and movement, while also receiving the least amount of love and attention. The feet are important because they possess some 7,000 nerve endings in each foot šŸ˜® and they support the 26 bones, 33 joints, 19 muscles and 107 ligaments in our body. I used to make it a habit of going in for a pedicure once every few months, but after studying what the feet put up with, I'm feeling a little guilty for not going in more often. Not only do the feet take on our weight, but they are overworked from standing in place at work all day in ill-fitting shoes, and while pounding against pavement during a run, among other things. Circulation tends to stagnate in our feet because they are the farthest from our heart and inorganic waste, like uric acid and calcium turn to crystalline deposits that can build up in the bottom of our feet. These are just some of the reasons that Reflexology is so important for our health and well being. Reflexology focuses on decreasing muscle tension and pain, increase circulation, loosen the feet so they become more flexible and mobile and stimulate the flow of energy throughout the body. I have included 3 tips for foot health and a Reflexology cheat sheet below!

Three Tips for maintaining healthy feet 1. Wear the correct size shoe.

Wearing the wrong shoe size is one of the leading causes of foot, back and hip pain and I'm probably the most guilty of this. If you are unsure of your shoe size you can trace the outline of your bare feet on cardboard with a sharpie, cut out the impressions and place inside your current shoes. If the outline doesn't fit easily, than your shoes are too small. The best time to measure your feet is in the afternoon when your feet are the biggest. 2. Soak feet daily, if possible, in Epson salt bath soak. Lavender and Orange are my favorite ones because they help relax and energy your feet! 3. Receive regular Reflexology treatments

Very informative, as usual! Iā€™m thinking maybe I should have a treatment. I like alternatives to the usual mainstream medical routine of drugs.
