New Year, New You

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

Happy New Year Everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on this past year and the changes that have blessed my life and empowered me to grow into a better, happier woman. This past year has been full of ups and downs and days where I didn't feel like I was making any changes or any great impact in my personal life or on those around me. I've learned to be patient with myself and welcome the good and the bad. Change is hard, sometimes it makes you feel like a fish out-of-water... like you're just learning to walk. As they say in Avatar, when they're learning a new language or a new culture... "you're like a baby." But incremental/real change is like that. It's not a big moment where fireworks go off and you grow rich overnight, etc. It's a day by day devotion to yourself and to others, to spread joy, love and kindness as you live your life with determination to be better. Some days are better than others, but just like the changing of the seasons, there has to be a balance of emotions in our lives. A balance of struggles and successes. A balance of knowing and learning. Without the struggles, we would never force ourselves to learn new things and to spread our wings to new heights. Some days we struggle, while other days we have great Epiphanies that change the trajectory of our life. I wanted to share some of my struggles and successes with all of you and invite you to do the same :) I have started two new jobs this year where I am able to connect with people on a deeper level than I have in the past. I am so blessed to be surrounded by the students and faculty at Bodymechanics, where I get a full spectrum of knowledge at my fingertips. Students come into the school with their own personal skill set and backgrounds that span great lengths. I learn something new every day about their lives and also ways they bring their own knowledge to the world of massage and healing. They remind me that there are different avenues for healing and that not everyone is on the same timeline. They also remind me that pain and healing looks different for each individual person, and the ways in which we reach optimal healing is based on our own individual and personal journey. I have also learned that some days amazing things happen in class and other days its just class, and thats ok. There have also been days like that at the Spa. Some days I feel like I'm just going through the motions, and the energy is off... And other days I have Clients who come in with excruciating pain and I am able to give them real relief from their pain. Life is like that sometimes, and the moment I came to the realization that life has its ups and downs, its ebbs and flows is the moment I began to accept myself and see the true blessings in my life. This past year has been filled with so many blessings, some very tangible and some subtle... but there all the same. How have you been blessed this year? What changes have you made this past year and how have they affected you in ways that will push you forward into the new year? Share your thoughts and resolutions/wishes for this coming year!

Feast, and your halls are crowded;

Fast and the world goes by.

Succeed and give, and it helps you live,

But no man can help you die.

There is room in the halls of pleasure

For a large and lordly train,

But one by one we must all file on

Through the narrow aisles of pain.
