Meditation to improve focus and find clarity in stressful situations

Meditation is a great way to improve focus, find clarity and peace in stressful situations. The need for meditation is increasing in our society, as health and wellness is becoming more of a priority in our lives. People are refocusing their energy on things that will improve the quality of their lives, as they seek more joy, happiness, and simplicity. As Americans living our every day lives our brains are typically set in a state of productivity and accomplishment, or Beta. There are four most common states of brainwaves: Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta. Beta is the state we're in when we are fully awake, and when our consciousness is alert and in a state of concentration, Alpha is associated with a wakeful rest, like after a workout or exercise. On the other side of the spectrum, Delta is the state we're in when we are in a deep/dreamless sleep. Theta is one step above Delta and the state our mind reaches when we meditate. When we meditate our brain is given a break from the stress and worry of every day life, as the two hemispheres come together to work as one. Rather than being at odds with one another, our left and right brain connect and synergize. This collaboration is shown to improve our mood and increases dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin levels. When we meditate it also gives us permission to utilize our right brain and allow the creative spaces in our heart and mind to find the clarity that we need to make decisions and creative changes in our lives. Not only does it bring clarity and peace in our lives but it also changes the neurological pathways in our mind to create real change. Unlike stress, which has been shown to advance the aging process, meditation has been known to promote healing, not only in our mind, but in our bodies as well. Meditation allows our body time to recover and rest; just as we receive healing in our bodies during sleep. It reduces inflammation and allows us to rest and recover in a way our minds and bodies otherwise couldn’t. How do you meditate? Do you listen to music, sit in silence, spend time in nature, receive a massage… Share your experience and tips on meditation 🤗
