I wanted to share a story that my Teacher Shari, the owner of Body Mechanics, shared with my class the other day. I also want to take a moment to mention that this woman is incredible. She’s the Tony Robbins of today, a true inspiration and I wish I could take her on as my personal Mentor. She recently finished running in the Boston Marathon, just one of several Marathons she's participated in, not to mention a handful of half marathons she's accomplished as well. She was recently taking a trip to Hawaii, for an event that includes a group of likeminded health and wellness influencers from around the world. As Body Mechanics continues to grow, Shari continues to spread her wings and share the word about the benefits of massage and the positive influence it can have on your body, mind and soul. She has met so many Incredible people who have faced and overcome countless obstacles and created great things in the process, I’m blown away and fascinated by the people and places she gets to see on a regular basis, her most recent venture being a trip to Hawaii. While she was in Hawaii she went on a boat excursion with a small group of people and she had the choice between two canoes: one of them looked kind of flimsy while the other one looked stable and safe. She immediately chose the boat that looked safer, any of us would have done the same, and she especially chose the safer boat because she stated that she has an "irrational fear of the ocean." While she was out, her boat began bouncing on the waves like a toy being thrown around haphazardly until it finally came upon a huge, jagged rock in the middle of the ocean. The waves instantly came crashing down on the canoe and within minutes, after her crew tried pushing the boat off the rock, (only forcing them higher up), it began filling with water. The boat was filling up quickly with water while the other, "less safe" boat, had to come to their rescue. Sometimes what we think is the safer route, isn’t actually safe at all. Sometimes making the choice to take a risk, and to take the more treacherous path, is actually what we need and what is best for us. Sometimes challenging ourselves to branch off from the “safe” route is actually the decision that will save us in the end. To end on a lighter note, when Shari and her crew were finally rescued and struggling back onto shore, they were met by a group of tourists sitting back in their lounge chairs, enjoying tropical drinks and just watching amusedly as the crew crawled breathless back to safety 🤭 What or Who inspires you on a daily basis? What risks have you taken in your life? How have you taken the safer route in your life and why?
