It's that time of year again where we huddle in our homes, snuggle up to a cozy fire-or in my case a candle-and do some baking! I used to bake a lot when I was a kid, but haven't done much of it in the past ten years; mainly because I don't want to have a bunch of cake or cookies lying around, because i'll eat it all... š One of the best things about the cold Fall months is getting together with a friend, pouring a glass of wine and doing some baking while talking about life. I would consider myself an average baker... I did take 3 semesters of baking while attending South Puget Sound Community College and one of the best things I made was a strawberry lemon layered cake š° I surprised myself because I always have trouble when I work with any kind of gelatin or thickening agent, but this cake was beyond delicious! I haven't made anything that fancy since then, but my sister is always making amazing desserts! She is one of the most phenomenal bakers I know, not just because whatever she bakes tastes amazing, but also looks like something out of a fairy land! I always encourage her to take a picture of whatever she bakes and put it into a portfolio in case she decides to do it professionally. She has talked about opening up her own bakery some day and has already created some buzz by baking for special events like weddings, baby showers, birthdays, Anniversaries, and other occasions.
