Finding Confidence in your Authenticity

Good morning, everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve written, mostly because I’ve been struggling to come up with something new and exciting to write about! When I first started this blog, it was all about making it through Covid. I was communicating with a Therapist online at that time, and she helped me find ways to challenge myself and make changes in my life; so I went to massage school and graduated with a license to practice massage! She helped me use my depression in a way that would foster growth and transform my life, rather than retreating into despair. Today, having practiced massage for four years now, I find myself needing a new challenge! I’m still working on what exactly that will be… but that’s not exactly what todays blog is about.

Today I want to talk about finding true confidence within yourself. Many people walk around acting confident, when in fact they are representing a side of themselves that doesn’t exist. Confidence is about standing tall and proud with your true authentic self. It’s not about pretending to be someone you’re not. Many people walk around wearing a mask that makes them appear confident. They cover themselves with makeup that hides their flaws, they wear clothes that make them appear powerful, strong and important. When they speak, they only talk about their achievements, and the things that are going well in their life. I get it, we all want to look our best and put our best foot forward. But if you sat down and really talked to any of these people, you would find that deep down, we are all working through something and walking that line between who we truly are and how we appear to others.

Confidence is not about being aggressive or trying to gain affection. It’s about recognizing your talents, your skills, the authentic and unique part of yourself, and leaning into it.

It’s about trusting your gut, trusting your heart, taking hold and showing those around you the beautiful and magnificent parts of yourself, rather than trying to fit into a mold that isn’t you. It’s about standing tall and proud of what you bring to the world, instead of comparing yourself to others. Along with having true, authentic confidence, it’s also important to be brave, take risks and grow. Just as we have confidence in our unique talents and gifts, we can also recognize that we have areas where we can grow into greater versions of ourselves. It’s not a failure to admit that we lack knowledge or skill in a certain area, but actually a sign that we are in tune with who we are and what we need. The more we know about ourselves, the greater power we have over our life.

Give yourself permission to be authentic, real, and true. Don’t apologize for who you are. We were put in this world for a reason, and I can guarantee there’s at least one person in this world who wishes they were more like you. And I can guarantee that you have touched more lives than you can even imagine. Be true to you.

Have a blessed day!
