Good morning everyone... Hope you are able to get out and enjoy the hot weather! I woke up this morning after a wild night of dreaming/nightmares and I got to thinking about how similar our dreams are to every day life. When people tell you to "follow your dreams" it sounds cheesy, cliche and unattainable, but if our reality can step into our dreams then maybe having our dreams come true in real life is not as far fetched as one might think. I believe that dreams can give us a glimpse of what is possible in our every day lives, if people and things didn't hold us back. Our imagination and creativity is a gift that is usually cut short by those around us. As children we are told to imagine, to dream and to be creative, but as we get older these things are quickly snubbed out by obligations and negativity. Our dreams can also turn into nightmares and show us our fears, our worries and our doubts. When we lay down to sleep at night our minds are given permission to wander and create, something that's not easily accomplished during a busy working day. When we are drifting off to sleep we are typically thinking about our day, things that are "on our mind" or bothering/worrying us. We experience different brain waves during different activities throughout our day and, while some factors such as stress, medications and lack of sleep can disrupt the nature cycle, our brains tends to produce theta waves when we are sleeping or dreaming. They tend to occur when we are drifting off to sleep or just before we wake up. Theta brain waves can also occur when we are awake and in a deeply relaxed state of mind. It is during this state of mind that our true creativity and imagination comes to the surface, which is one of the reasons our dreams don't typically follow any logical progression and often seem bizarre and/or frightening. What is the craziest dream or nightmare you've had lately and how did it make you feel? Do you tend to dream about things bothering you in real life and have you ever had a dream so real that you weren't sure if it was a dream or something that happened to you in real life? Have you ever had a dream that served as a premonition... Share your thoughts on dreams/nightmares in the comments below!
