Do You Believe in the Power of Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is the practice of achieving a state of intense focus and concentration, through the guidance of a trained Hypnotist or Hypnotherapist. The Trained Hypnotist uses verbal cues, guided suggestions, and repetition to put the patient into a trance-like state that is designed to help them conquer a struggle and/or achieve a therapeutic goal. Hypnosis has been used to conquer a fear, calm anxiety, help manage weight loss, quit smoking/drinking or other bad habits, while also helping the patient achieve a state of peaceful meditation. Through a session of guided hypnosis, the Hypnotist will direct the patient to a heightened state that allows them to become more open to suggestions and advice that they would normally ignore or push aside. It is similar to sleep, except the patient is fully aware of what's going on. It helps by planting different thoughts in their mind that take root while they're in a trance-like state. Hypnosis may also allow the patient to be open enough to accept and process these deeper thoughts that an otherwise cluttered mind would not be able to. When the session is complete, your Hypnotherapist will wake you from your trance-like state, or you can exit it on your own. Either way, it is highly unlikely that you will stay in your trance for a long period of time. Like anything, hypnosis can be used to help or harm you. Hypnosis is a form of therapy meant to create good habits or break bad ones, but it has also been used to get a person to do something they wouldn't normally do, like committing a crime or doing whatever the guide asks of them. If you don't completely trust your guide or if the guide has evil intent, than hypnosis will most likely have bad results that will harm the subject. I haven't personally been to a Hypnotherapist, but I have tried using guided meditation. In my experience with hypnosis I achieved a state of total relaxation but was unable to reach a trance-like state. I think, in order for hypnosis to work, you have to be completely open and completely trust your guide by allowing them into your thoughts. What are your thoughts about hypnosis? Would you try it or have you tried it before? Share your thoughts!
