Copy of Haunted Castle Escape

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a lovely weekend... As the summer is coming to a close, I wanted to go on one last Adventure before the weather starts getting cold. I decided to spend some girl time away, and just enjoy the beautiful scenery, a nice drive and hopefully spend some time on the dance floor. Well... we didn't do any dancing, but that was mostly my fault, since I got the music festival days messed up and I had a migraine the entire three days... But I think one of my favorite parts of the time away was the first night when we got all dressed up and had drinks at the bars in the Castle. There were three bars/restaurants in the castle itself and they had a live band playing outside until late at night. I got a lemon drop with Grenadine, and it was one of the best I’ve had—perfectly tart and perfectly sweet!

I was surprised at how many families were staying at the Castle. There were kids roaming around… and as the night wore on, there were quite a few drunks as well. My mind wandered, as I drifted off to sleep and people started clamoring and stumbling into their rooms; I started thinking that the Castle might have a dark quality that turned people insane and cause them to turn violent and start slaughtering each other. I guess I listen to too much True Crime, but sometimes you hear about some people who just lash out in fits of rage. That’s what I was thinking at 10 O’clock Friday night as I tried to fall asleep, my head pounding as people stumbled around me.

We actually left the Castle after a couple drinks that first night and walked down to the town, checking out the Marina, the old shops and delicious smells coming from all the restaurants. We ended up going to a fancy place where we sat for a bit, shared an entree, and plucked a starter off one of the plants next to our table.

The next day was also really fun, as we went on an adventure to Dungenous Spit, saw a prehistoric bird and made the 10 mile trek to the lighthouse and back. We met the Keepers of the lighthouse who had just arrived that morning and had seen a couple Orca whales earlier that day. The drive was absolutely beautiful and the towns and neighborhoods were cozy and unique. One of the towns we passed reminded me of Dupont. It looked clean and happy! Maybe it was the delusion from my headache, or some other craziness, but as we walked toward the Lighthouse, it always seemed to move farther away. We made really good time though, power walking the entire way! We got some giant cookies and had some sushi appetizers before we had dinner at Nicki’s Grotto, a very nice Italian place(the warm bread and butter was Amazing!), that took us forever to find since it was below the street. We had to switch rooms the second night, but it was cool seeing the different styles each night. My brother Shaun came over the second night to stay with us, check out the castle, and wander about the town the next morning. All-in-all it was a nice little getaway, despite the headache ;) How are you spending your summer days? Share your Adventures!
